T'was The Night Before A Princess Aspien Christmas

ASD

T’was the night before Christmas and all through the house,All the creatures were stirring,Even Gus-Gus the mouseThe stockings were hung with meticulous careBut Princess Aspien lay wide awake and awareAll snuggled up with Matilda in bed,But worries and excitement danced around in her headShe tried her weighted blanket, and watched Barbie twiceBut she still couldn’t sleep… it just wasn’t nice. She had on her soft pyjamas (not a tag in sight)And she plugged in her calming, magic night lightIt still didn’t help, her anticipation highShe sighed as she looked into the night sky Her excitement was brimming, her heart beating fastBecause Christmas day was coming at lastThe carols, fairy lights, and the smell of the treeChristmas makes her as happy as can be It’s all so much fun, and it’s happening so soonShe thinks all this, as she looks up at the moon. She loves Christmas Day, and the joy that it bringsBut as well with excitement… there comes other things Because when Christmas comes, it comes with a changeNew noises and presents, and foods that are strangeThe routines are different, and it’s such a big dayNot even her weighted blanket could put her worries at bay 24 days of planning, and counting downBut Princess Aspien is the only one awake in the townHer joy mixes with fear, but with some help from her friendsHer racing heart stopped, and she falls asleep in the end  And as Christmas day comes, she flings from her bedMore excited than ever, with no signs of dreadShe’s happy and eager, and she’s alert and brightThe worry she felt, is clear out of sight She’s ready for Christmas and knows just what to do(she’s planned for 24 days, she’s thought it all through). She opens her gifts, that are under the treeShe has her Christmas lunch separated… potatoes not touching the peas! Her clothes are not scratchy, and her soft blanket is nearShe needs it especially on the biggest day of the year…She has time for herself, so she doesn’t feel dizzyBy all of the excitement and people, when it all gets too busy. She sings Christmas carols, eats mince pies, and has funAnd the day goes on, there’s smiles from everyoneIt’s been the best day, there can possibly beChristmas day is filled with nothing but glee  But no amount of planning can prepare for the crashThat happens as night comes, and the day closes with a smash.Because there’s just so much, that’s happened todayIt’s all been so exciting, and it’s now gone away As the night falls and the day draws to an endThe excitement is over, and tears may to ascend But she’s not really sad, and there’s no need to worryShe’s just overwhelmed, by all of this flurryIt’s been a big day, full of exciting, new stuffAnd Princess Aspien’s brain, has just had enough She climbs into bed, and calms herself downWith her music, and headphones, and teddies surroundShe’s got her special blanket, and her best friends are nearShe begins to calm down, there’s not another tear Her eyes start to close, and a yawn leaves her lipsAs her system calms down, and into sleep then she slipsShe’s snug into bed, her nightlight aglowShe can’t wait for next year… 364 days to go
